It depends on the property and the type of air conditioner you want to install. If you’re adding a 2.5-kilowatt split-system air conditioner to a Sunshine Coast property (with back-to-back units), you can expect to pay around between $2,000 and $2,500 for both supply and installation.
Generally, the air con itself will be roughly half of that cost. (Keep in mind that businesses advertising substantially cheaper installations may use lower-quality units. We only supply market-leading brands like Daikin and Fujitsu.)

There’s no one ‘best’ brand of air conditioner – each one has different pros and cons. Generally, though, Daikin is considered one of the most reliable. It’s won multiple awards for dependability, including being recognised as Australia’s most reliable brand at the 2024 Finder Retail Awards. (It’s exactly why we chose them as one of our 2 preferred air con brands.)
Fujitsu and Mitsubishi Electric are also considered good choices – both brands have strong global presences and have been market-tested for decades.

A high-quality air conditioning unit should last for 10 to 15 years before it needs replacing. Regular servicing can help you get the most out of your unit, particularly if you live in an oceanside suburb (like Caloundra, Mooloolaba, or Noosa) that’s affected by sea breezes.
