Solutions
Lighting is more complicated than most homeowners think.
You need to consider how much illumination each space needs.
You need to work out what kind of lighting is required.
(Recessed strips, for example, light a space very differently to hanging pendants.)
Finally, you need to plan locations – what positioning will deliver the level and quality of light you need with the fewest number of fixtures?
When you talk to us about your project, we’ll help explain your options, including the electrical feasibility of different placements.

Questions
Yes, it’s worth upgrading incandescent or halogen lights to LEDs.
LED bulbs use around 75% less energy than halogen bulbs and last for up to 10 times longer (or up to 25 times longer than incandescent lights). That efficiency means they normally have a payback period of around one year – your energy bill savings after 12 months will be higher than the cost of installing them.
LEDs also emit very little heat. If you’ve ever stood under an incandescent bulb, you’ve probably felt the warmth radiating it off it – which, over summer, can make a big difference to the temperature of a room.
Finally, LED light also looks more attractive. LED bulbs concentrate wavelengths emitted by the diodes in a specific direction, which means their output typically looks ‘cleaner’ than other kinds of lights.
Yes, we do. We charge $195 for a call-out and the first 30 minutes on site.
It depends on your home. If your rooms have traditional batten-holder lights, then you’ll generally need extra downlights. (Extruding bulbs throw light in all directions, while recessed LED downlights create focused beams.) One batten-holder, for example, might need to be replaced by 4 LED downlights to achieve an equal level of illumination. That process involves a lot of rewiring, especially if you own an older property that lacks earths at each lighting point.
Swapping out existing halogen downlights is cheaper and faster. If they’re hardwired with a ballast, expect to pay around $90 per light. Alternatively, if they’re plug-base lights, it’s simply a matter of unplugging the existing lights and putting in the new ones.

Yes, we do. We hold a $20 million public liability policy. We’re happy to supply proof of insurance upon request.
Many lighting companies claim that their LED bulbs last for 30,000 to 50,000 hours. Assuming a runtime of 12 hours a day, that translates to around 11.5 years of life. (In reality, residential bulbs will probably see far lower usage.)
Keep in mind that various factors – heat, humidity, poor installation, old fixtures – can all cause LEDs to fail faster. What matters, though, is that LEDs last around 25 times longer than traditional incandescent bulbs. Even if they cost slightly more upfront, they’ll end up being far, far cheaper over time.
